Spiritual care services

As an essential part of the healing ministry of Christ provided by CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospital, the chaplains in the spiritual care department, along with other caregivers, provide spiritual, religious and emotional support to patients and families during their stay at the hospital.

Our chaplains are professionally qualified to minister to people of any faith-affiliation, and all patient care areas have a chaplain assigned to them. The assigned chaplain makes every effort to visit each patient within 24 hours of admission. Follow-up ministry is provided based on need. A priest chaplain is available for any sacramental needs.

At CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospital, we understand that spirituality is a search for meaning and purpose in life. It springs from within the person. It is a search for something greater than self: God. It is a search for intimacy, relationship, truth and a set of core values to live by.

Religion is spirituality with a structure. It is an expression of our spirituality in corporate way. It includes a set of beliefs, formal worship and standards of behavior. It develops rituals and traditions and fosters a community of people who believe and practice their faith.

Mass is celebrated at the Chapel (located in the old convent building) each Sunday at 9.30 a.m., Monday through Friday at 11:30 a.m. and Saturday at 7.30 p.m. All services held in the Chapel are available for patient viewing on Channel 60 of the hospital TV.

A chaplain is on-call 24 hours a day for any emergencies and can be contacted through the spiritual care office at Ext. 6798, Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. After office hours, a chaplain can be reached through the nursing service.
