Electroencephalogram
EEG is a common abbreviation for electroencephalogram. It is a diagnostic
test that records the patterns of electrical output from the brain.
It is used as an aide in the treatment of various conditions, most
notably, the diagnosis of epilepsy and other seizure type activity.
If seizures are suspected or present the physician can order a 24-hour monitoring EEG, to help with regulating the dosage of medication to control the seizure. EEG is also utilized to determine the type of seizure and where it may originate: nocturnal, grand mal and petite-mal. Also with the 24 Hour EEG monitoring, we are capable of digital video monitoring in correlation with the EEG tracings.
